my story

Hey y'all! Okay, I'm so not from the south but sometimes I like to pretend I am. My name is Alexa and however you happened to stumble upon my lovely little website, WELCOME! I hope my story can help you, inspire you, and get you thinking about what you can change in your life so that you can start living healthy.

My journey starts back in college - I attended the University of Washington with hopes of becoming a graphic design major. I joined a sorority my freshman year which was one of the best descisions I've made - the friendships and experiences were AMAZING. But with sorority living also came a buffet of not the best food...I got into a bad habit of overeating and serving up DOUBLE PORTIONS for myself. On top of that, I was drinking every week and the empty calories really started to add up.

By the time I graduated college in 2010, I had gained about 60-70 lbs and was in a really low spot in my life. My plan of getting into graphic design didn't turn out because the design major at UW was VERY competitive. I ended up getting degrees in Communication and Visual Arts, but it wasn't really my passion. I also had to move back in with parents because I didn't have a "real job", and was working at Sephora part-time to make a little money. Yeah, #postgradproblems. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, I was unhappy with my health and I knew that SOMETHING had to change.

I started going on countless online dates at this point...I figured, if I can find a guy that likes me then that must mean I'm beautiful and worth something right?? My mindset was totally messed up and along with my online dating phase, I began TRYING to get healthy by doing every single diet and weight loss program you can think of. WeightWatchers probably 3-4 times, The Zone diet, personal trainer, calorie counting apps, Advocare - you name it, I probably had tried it at some point. Nothing created a long term solution for me and I always gained any weight back that I lost. I even got to one point in my journey where I lost 55 lbs and GAINED 53 lbs back the next year. That was really my rock bottom moment - when I saw that all the hard work I had done was pretty much gone and I was back to square one...again.

top row: October 2012 - bottom row: October 2013

In October 2013, I decided I needed to end this vicious cycle. I was OVER IT. A friend of mine told me about a clean eating challenge she was running on Facebook, and I decided to join. Suddenly, though I was living with my parents (who had NO desire to change their unhealthy habits), I was surrounded by other like-minded people. Other people that wanted to get healthy like me. I loved it! On top of that, I started drinking Shakeology - this amazing sperfood shake that helped me kick my cravings for fast food & gain energy. In that month that I was in the challenge group, I lost 11 lbs. I had so much energy from ShakeO and felt great! I decided to join another and I also started the at home workout program T25. I continued to see success and three months in, I lost 25 lbs. It took me SEVEN MONTHS before to lose 25 lbs, and I did it in three. I knew this was different this time around, and I had to keep going.

And thats what I did. With the help of my coach and my team, I was able to lose 80 lbs over the course of about a year, and not only that - but I've maintained this weight (give or take some lbs) since 2014. I have turned my previous failures into a positive situation. I realized that my health and fitness is something that I am passionate about. Even when I was being unhealthy, I thought about it everyday. I have been to rock bottom. I have climbed up, and then hit it again. I have tried every program under the sun. But one thing I haven't done is quit or stop trying. Now, I feel like I have finally landed where I need to be. I am now a health and fitness coach, run my own challenge groups and continue to do at home programs like T25 and drink Shakeology. It has been the one product to provide the three essential needs when it comes to losing weight: nutrition, fitness and support/accountability. Because of this, I felt as though I HAD to spread the word about this to other people. It fills my heart to help others who were in the same situation as me. I am here to be the support and motivation that you never had before! I also started to incorporate personal development into my routine, which really turned my mindset around about everything in my life.

I love helping others, and I want to be a part of your journey - if you have any questions or want me to help you get on the road to healthy, contact me below. It is possible to get there with the right tools, you can do it! I'm still writing my story and hope that along the way, I can help you start writing your story as well.
