I hear this all the time. Like on the DAILY: "I can't lose weight because eating healthy is too expensive." Well I'm not here to burst your bubble but I wanted to let you know that if you are letting this excuse hold you back from getting started on your health and fitness journey, THAT ENDS NOW.
It is TOTALLY possible to eat clean and reach your weight loss goals without spending your life savings. Let me tell you guys right now - I am on BUDGET. Like for real. I am working hard with my business right now but in the meantime, I am definitely trying to save moolah wherever I can. I'm excited to share my 3 top tips with you guys that I actually implement and use when going grocery shopping each week.

1. BUY IN BULK
Find a grocery store that has a decent bulk section and GO TO TOWN! I know not all stores have this but I can pretty much bet if you do some research, you can find one thats near you. If not that, Costco is another great option. Buying in bulk is a great way to cut down costs, and I will buy all of the following items in bulk whenever possible:
Rice
Dry beans
Oatmeal
Quinoa (pretty much all grains)
Nuts
Healthy trail mix
Spices
Pasta (whole wheat)
The Winco near our house has a kick ass bulk section! I have also seen them in plenty of other grocery stores, so try to find one near you that has a bulk section!!

2. GO WITH A LIST AND A FULL TUMMY
This might be obvious but I still have to share: be sure you take a list with you whenever you go shopping, otherwise you may buy a lot more than you ACTUALLY need. Also, don't go to the store if you're hungry!! This is like setting yourself up for failure. When you're hungry, you want to eat, so going to a giant food store may cause some unnecessary grocery purchases. Eat before you shop, or bring a snack. Also, be sure you are meal planning every week so that when you make your list, you know EXACTLY what it is you need for the week - no more, no less.

3. BUY FROZEN VEGGIES
I have found that buying my veggies frozen - especially veggies that are out of season - has been saving me money lately! I was skeptical to this for awhile because I thought frozen veggies might be gross and mushy and soggy. But if you cook them through all the way, its not really the case! I have also even found some recipes for roasting frozen veggies and the reviews are great! I haven't tried roasting yet, but I do just cook them up in a pan with a little oil and spices! This has been saving me money because I tend to be a waster of food which I KNOW is bad, but as much as I try to prevent it, it usually always happen LOL. I let veggies go bad way too often, and though I can't buy everything frozen like lettuce, avocado, etc., I have honestly just been having less salads and stir frying my veggies with some protein and a healthy carb!! And since I get different varieties of frozen veggies, I can mix it up! I definitely am a frozen veggie fan from here on out!!
So did these tips help?? I hope these simple changes can start to make a big impact on your budget and your health!! :D
